A living cultural landscape

From Mossman Gorge to Cape Tribulation and on to Kalkajaka, this is the land of the Eastern Kuku Yalanji people — where the world's oldest rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef.

The Eastern Kuku Yalanji are the Traditional Owners of the Daintree, the surrounding lands and a vast stretch of the Reef, with an unbroken connection to Country reaching back tens of thousands of years. Their stories, laws and knowledge systems are woven into the land itself — passed down in an unbroken line of cultural stewardship.

The enterprise

A way forward.

Yalada Tours is a social enterprise of the Jabalbina Yalanji Aboriginal Corporation — one of the most successful First Nations organisations in the country.

Every guest contributes directly to rainforest restoration, conservation, and the continuation of Yalanji knowledge. Tourism here is a mechanism by which Yalanji people manage our land and sea, sustain our culture, and lead our own economic future.

Restoring connection

Experience with Us

We prioritise authentic experiences on Country that support connection to self, eachother and our beautiful bubu (land).

A living library

A living library

The rainforest and reef are not just coral, trees and vines. This is our supermarket, our pharmacy, our hardware store — knowledge passed down through generations.

Deeper listening

Deeper listening

Not just with your ears, but with your wawu (spirit). Our Yalanji Elders teach how they came to know and care for land, sea and sky.

Restore the Rainforest

Restore the Rainforest

Work with us to restore native trees and critical habitat with us in vulnerable areas of our Bubu (land).
